The forgotten celebrant
It’s exactly one year ago, when my parents threw a huge birthday party in honor of my born day.
Just a year gone, yet the sad experience I had still remains unforgettable in my heart, and I wish this year’s will be with much difference or better still, no celebration.
It was a huge celebration with more than one thousand guests in attendance, every one ate to stupor; they all danced and till they could dance no more. The chef was the best in town; the M.C wowed every one, and the DJ hmmmmm… Speechless!
The party was meant to be a memorable one for all the attendees especially me but little did I know it will turn out to be my worse nightmare.
I was left out of my own birthday celebration. Alot to eat and drink, enough fun but I was never in the picture of the event.
Seemed everyone cared more about themselves and less about me who was supposed to be the reason for the celebration.
To crown it all, three days after the celebration the camera man came back with the photo shoots but I was missing in all the pictures, neither was I captured even by mistake
Which popped the following questions by my dad; why was the celebrant not in the picture?
Why was she forgotten? Why did I spend so much if the celebrant is not pleased? Why the celebration? Why celebrate if the celebrant won’t be featured?
I shook my head sadly and said, “Dad, you and mum are also guilty because both of you were not also around.”
And as I rememberd my birthday today, it occurred to me that Christmas is just one day away. How do you plan to spend your Christmas?
Will the celebrant be featured in your celebration?
Will He be in the picture of the celebration?
Remember the reason for the season and don’t leave out the celebrant! As for me, no more celebration of birthdays. self-love all the way!!
